Solar Hot Water Systems

Thermosiphon (tank & panels up on roof) VS Split (tank on ground & panels only on roof)?

We are asked this question daily, and not all situations are alike. Many factors come into play. We can dispatch a friendly ‘Earthsaver’ to come to your home, review your circumstances and provide you with a no-obligation free quote. We stock the range of Edwards solar hot water units as they are durable, Australian made, and have been on the market since 1963.

Whichever solution you select, it makes sense to use the ample sunshine available in Brisbane to heat our water. Be aware of the new legislation governing replacement of electric hot water services as in some areas you cannot put in another electric hot water service. Find out more about new legislation governing replacement of electric hot water services here.

Contact Earthsave when your old hot water system gives up – we can have you back in hot water within 24 hours in most cases (if within our geographic region – unfortunately our ‘Earthsavers’ haven’t perfected teleportation yet).

See technical sheets below for more details on the Edwards systems.

Ceiling Insulation

4 Types of Ceiling Insulation Our batt insulation options are environmentally responsible as a lot of recycled materials go into the production.  They come with a Lifetime Guarantee (for the life of the home - no top ups needed).  Our products have a minimum R-rating of 3, comply with AS/NZS4859.1:2002, all resist fire, mildew, rot, vermin and insects.

Up to 45% of heating and cooling is lost through an uninsulated ceiling. By this practical step you will reduce energy use and cut your power bills by $200 to $700 annually. And the added benefit is you will be more comfortable and increase the value of your home.

The pictures of the fibres to the right are of the following types of batts:

1.  Glasswool batts
2.  Earthwool batts
3.  Polyester batts
4.  Wool batts

Solar Power (Photovoltaics)

Grid connected solar power is fast becoming the weapon of choice in reducing electricity costs for homeowners. We have packages starting from $4,664 inc GST. See attached for some of our most popular solar power packages.

Our panels produce the most power, which helps you save roof space, and more importantly electricity costs. In fact our panels are the most powerful on the planet, out performing our greatest foes (or closest competitors) by about 50%.

We cater for a range of budgets and requirements. The Sunpower brand is our premium product, however we have some budget products that give good ‘bang for the buck’, and some proven powerhouses with long track records.

This invincible combination and our BCSE installer mean that you get the latest in grid connected PV technology with the longest manufacturers warranty on the market (Sunpower SMA only).

Solar Heat Pumps

Heat PumpWhere solar panels on the roof are not an option, the heat pump is an energy efficient alternative. A heat pump operates like a refrigerator only in reverse; transferring the heat in the surrounding air to the stored water. The heat pump’s use of refrigeration technology makes it extremely energy efficient - comparable to a solar water heater but without the need for collector panels - using approximately one third the energy of a conventional electric water heater.

We sell a range of heat pumps for varying situations. Heat pumps qualify for Renewable Energy Certificates and the Federal Government’s Solar Hot Water Rebate Programme (in the case of a domestic heat pump). These incentives make the systems very affordable and payback periods can be very short, especially in commercial situations.
